SKIPPING ROPE AND HANGING OUT ON FAYETTEVILLE STREET

We believe we need more places to casually hang out, not for a special event, but just places to be on ordinary days. We are the Raleigh Urban Rangers and have discovered people are looking for an invitation, for permission to stop, to hang,  to simply be. We propose making places to “stop” in the “go” of the street. We invite the city out to meet itself.

LUMP LOT CYPHER

The parking lot cypher, featuring NC State Cypher Univercity and DJ extraordinaire, Jake Mitchell, was a blast! The crowd came from all over: Oakwood, NC State, East Raleigh, Shaw and folks walking on the street.   It is clear,  talent is here, we just got to make a place where there is no fear!

DOWNTOWN PICNIC AND HAMMOCK HANG

Raleigh Urban Rangers' inaugural event was a lunchtime picnic and hammock hang in Market Plaza, downtown off of Fayetteville Street. Passersby were happy to stop and eat, or grab a hammock, putting their feet up in the middle of downtown. What if more of our public spaces were spontaneously used and animated like this? We welcome the city out to play!
